Dahican Surf Resort

this resort has the best beach- with its clear, turquoise waters and white, powdery sand. but amenities-wise? let's say giving it 2/5 stars is me being generous. we booked this room good for 2 for P2000/night. when we got there, the room was not even prepared- the floor was not cleaned yet and there were dirty towels and face masks hanging on the wall. the room smelled musty and the fan dusty. rooms have no own toilet and bath and no complimentary breakfast. toilets and shower stalls are located outside so you have to wait in line with all the other guests. the place is loud and seems to attract younger, party-loving crowds. with this experience, i think it's overpriced considering the lack of amenities and other basic services.

Dahican Surf Resort (DSR) has probably the best shoreline in Mati, with pristine blue/turquoise waters and fine, white sand covering the area. Inside the resort one can find small yet very simple accommodations. shared toilets and shower areas, restaurants and kiosks selling cold drinks/ smoothies, and locals offering surfing lessons for a price. There are tables and seating areas close to the shoreline that are free to use, although they are not most comfortable but they do the job. Just make sure to stay in the shaded area as the scorching heat of the sun especially at noon time can be quite overwhelming. We only came for a day tour so I’m not sure about their room prices. But you can for sure contact them on their facebook and inquire. Getting to the resort is quite easy cause they have a sign along the highway that says you’ve arrived in DSR. One can always ask the locals on the way too for directions.

Clean, chill and relaxing resort to grab some bite from their food and beverage outlets. They have a bar; dessert & snack section; Surf Shack resto; Messy Bun desserts among others which are right on the other side of the area. I love the wooden veranda for the breeze from the sea hits amazing on one's face. Surfing is a common activity. They have rooms and tree houses for accommodation. A kitchen area as well for those who want to make their own meals. The resort has an entrance fee of P100 consumable for drinks. Fair enough parking space as well. Please bring cash or ready your GCash for payments.

Overall experience was awesome considering the resort was peaceful and the staff were accommodating. We rented a tent and it was quite big and comfortable, they're the ones who set-up the tent and it comes with mat and beddings. The toilets were clean and well-maintained I must say. However, it was a bummer that we weren't able to actually swim at the beach because it is not safe for those who do not know how to considering the sea level and the waves. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my stay and I was able to rest while I was there. Would love to come back soon!

Nice bar on a great beach and nice how they are constantly cleaning everything, and nice music at the bar, but rather crammed, could only find one communal sink for brushing teeth, mattress was ridiculously thin for the price we were paying, and not very family friendly as it generally seemed to attract a younger, louder party crowd. Their double burger with cheese and bacon is top notch, but we moved to JC Guesthouse. Much better.
